'Feel Free' at Carlos'n Charlie's
Cancun, Q. Roo, Mexico - With locations in almost every major Mexican and Caribbean tourist destination, Carlos'n Charlie's has been creating memories for travelers of all ages since the 1960s.
The Carlos'n Charlie's concept is based heavily on the beliefs and practices of Carlos Anderson, founder of the restaurant chain as well as its Cancun-based parent company, Grupo Anderson's, which is Mexico's largest restaurant group.
Each characteristic of the restaurant mirrors Anderson's charismatic and witty demeanor with subtle hints of humor. The décor is reminiscent of his worldly travels, including a miscellaneous array of souvenirs and photographs that somehow create a chaotic harmony within the restaurant. The menu at Carlos'n Charlie's is also a direct reflection of Anderson's genuine personality, with items based on authentic Mexican cuisine, but with influences from other parts of the globe.
In its casual setting, guests at Carlos'n Charlie's are always treated equally as they are enchanted by their surroundings - dancing on chairs, comical skit performances, singing and more. Guests are not entertained by the staff; rather, they are highly encouraged to be a part of the entertainment.
"When I started as a mandil (server) at Carlos'n Charlie's in Cancun, Carlos Anderson would yell at me for talking to only the good looking girls in the restaurant," David Krouham, CEO of Grupo Anderson's, jokingly states. "He encouraged us to mingle with guests of all ages, shapes and sizes, which was his way of making sure everyone was having a good time."
Part of Carlos Anderson's genuine personality was the ability to make every person feel important and as if they were his best friend - a characteristic that lives on in every Carlos'n Charlie's restaurant today through the servers.
That's why Carlos'n Charlie's has become so popular with tourists over the years. Its family atmosphere is warm and inviting, yet fun-loving and always a unique anad memorable experience.
Grupo Anderson's currently operates eight restaurant brands throughout Mexico, the United States, Europe, the Caribbean and South America. Other popular concepts include Señor Frog's, which recently made its debut into the U.S. market, El Shrimp Bucket and Glazz, and sophisticated Asian restaurant and ultra lounge in Cancun.
